da8d69af2f panel: a message typed mid-turn reaches her
Souveraine.send returns false for a busy turn exactly as it does for a dead
server, and the sidebar rendered every false as "server unreachable" — so
typing while she worked showed the words, then a lie, and dropped the text.
The verbs existed on both sides since 93fe30a and nothing called them.

Type-while-busy now interjects, as the TUI has always done
(src/ui/app/mod.rs:1006). Esc with nothing attached raises a hand. A queued
count sits in the status row and says sent, not read, because 202 from
/interject means only that it was taken.

Deliberately unchanged: the two drain sites and their system/user registers.
Providers disagree about which one they want and that choice is not ready to
be made. Latency is unchanged too — turn.rs:600 runs a whole tool round
without looking, so a note sent into a fifteen-call round waits for it.

46d2601908 zone: take the detent from the card, not from 18%
The card's bottom sits at 805 of 1080 logical, so the travel is 275px and the
detent fired at 194 — every release committed with the window short of its card.
Latched at the press. Velocity is the last 100ms rather than the whole-drag mean,
and the settle is a critically damped spring on the frame clock, seeded with it.

2b4c827b66 viewtop-control: redeliver a commit the socket dropped
A transport error cleared the whole queue, so a lost overview_commit left the
compositor carrying windows the shell believed it had released. 52 dropped
queues and 113 PeerClosedErrors in one boot on blueline. commit, cancel and
workspace are idempotent, so each gets one retry; progress is a level and does not.

68c353ad10 zone: the long swipe travels to home instead of back to the detent
settleTo gave home and overview the same end shift, so a release past the
multitasking detent animated *down* to it, held the overview fully present, and
teleported — the release never reached its end target. detent is the boundary
between the two (rail: pullTo(travel, missionAt)), and presence is built to
reach 0 at clock 2, which is where home lives.

a8a4aac2d5 viewtop: hang up after a reply instead of discovering it
The compositor answers one request per connection and returns. `connected`
lags that close, so the 2 s poll's second tick wrote to a spent socket and
died as PeerClosedError — once per shell start, 4 of 4 loads on 2026-08-13,
while the same socket answered a hand-written request that second.
The error also blamed reachability, which it never established; it now names
the verb that was lost and how many were dropped behind it.

6edebaeca5 stepup: authenticate through PAM, not a dead pkcheck branch
StepUpAuth ran `souveraine-pam-auth`, else `pkcheck --action-id
org.souveraine.stepup`. Neither exists: no such binary was ever written
and no polkit action was ever shipped, so both branches failed and every
grant request was silently denied. The header also described passing a
password through SOUVERAINE_STEPUP_PASSWORD, which the code never set.

Now a PamContext against the system souveraine-stepup service, shipped by
cc541d1. The prompt is not owned here: pamMessage raises
promptRequired(family, message, secret) and a surface answers with
respond(). An empty answer is legitimate, not a cancel -- the FPC factor
prompts "Touch and hold" and consumes its ticket on a blank response.

Deliberately unchanged: grant model, TTL, revocation and break-glass all
still live in the shell. Moving them to sessiond is a separate pass.

Authorship: this patch is Rook's work, staged in surfaces/quickshell/
patches/ on 2026-08-12. The patch file carried my identity in its From
header but I did not write it; recording that here rather than wearing it
silently.

Verified: /usr/lib/qt6/bin/qmllint exit 0 against the composed tree, gate
proven able to reject (exit 255 on a deliberately broken control).
Untested: no shell has loaded this and no surface calls respond() yet.

6f12fceea9 shell: apply 0007, 0010, 0011 — context occupancy, halt register, /new
0007 was fixing a live error: the server has carried named ContextPressure
fields since r463, so event.tokens was undefined and the pill assignment
failed on every turn. Applied and verified against the running shell.

0010 renders a halt in her own register rather than the tool's name.
0011 renames the reset command to /new, which is what clearMessages() does.

93fe30a8e7 shell: land the owned message delegate and the speech fixes
Applied 0009 then 0008 (0008's re-synthesize control calls a function 0009
adds). Casey applied and reloaded; verified against a running shell rather
than from a clean load.

0009 Speech.qml
  stop() could not stop. playProc ran `sh -c "mpv ... || ffplay ..."` — a
compound command, so sh does not exec-replace itself and SIGTERM killed the
wrapper while the player kept sounding as an orphan. Reproduced directly.
That is the back-to-back TTS slam: every stop left audio playing and the
next speak started a second player over it. Shell dropped; the pid held is
now the pid making noise. ffplay fallback deleted rather than repaired —
needing a fallback is what forced the wrapper that broke the kill.
resynthesize() added, bypassing the cache: the button existed for "that came
out wrong" and, being keyed on the same text, always replayed the identical
file. synthesizing/playing split out of one `speaking` boolean.

0008 AiChat.qml
  One line: delegate AiMessage -> AgentMessage. The vendor block named 8 tools;
the registry holds 19. The 11 it could not see were exactly the interiority
surface — outfit, nickname, subagent, atmosphere, reach, consult, itinerary,
  todo, schedule, halt, intrusive.

regenerate and edit dropped deliberately, per Casey: text regeneration is not
possible (Ai.regenerate() already returned advice) and there is no in-place
edit (the vendor wrote to a local array the server never sees). delete is
armed and states that it hides locally only. Do not restore them.

Queue entries removed here, per the directory's own discipline.

391e239010 bar: one BarContent for every device, layout as data
ii-base and ii-phone each carried a 357-line BarContent to express eight
differences, all of them either "is this widget shown" or "which slot is
it in". No behaviour differed. Every bar edit had to be made twice or
diverge silently against the pin.

Widgets are now declared once as Components in a registry; each slot is a
Repeater over a list of widget names, so placement and order are data.
Config names a slot or a device profile picks it. "auto" derives the
profile from the same cramped-ness test behind useShortenedForm, so the
phone keeps its arrangement with no config file. Loaders are active only
when placed, so an unplaced widget is never constructed.

The agent island becomes a placeable widget rather than a mount smuggled
into UtilButtons: it reaches every device bar from one declaration.

ClockWidget is unified for the same reason. Its phone fork existed solely
to add customFormat, which BarContent now sets on every device.

bar.agentSessions was landing under background.widgets, not bar, so
Config.options.bar.agentSessions was always undefined and only the ?? true
fallback made the island appear wired. Moved, and merged into the existing
bar.indicators rather than declaring a second one.

b21184217e agent sessions: use shellPath convention for collector path 2026-08-11 14:21:37 -04:00
Fimeg
47ce2d1970 agent sessions: one collector, one island
Collector emits a single JSON envelope for every agent session (Souveraine,
Claude Code, Codex) and always exits 0; a failing provider reports
available:false rather than taking the envelope down.

AgentSessions.qml owns the cadence and projects the envelope. Transport is not
the contract: when the TASK-69 daemon lands, only the source changes.

Island is a morph host for the bar - dot on a cramped bar, pill where there is
room, derived from the same threshold BarContent uses.

Inert until registered in services/qmldir and mounted; see patches/0005.

Keep assistant, reasoning, tool-call, and tool-return frames structured through the sidebar delegate. Tool cards bind returns by wire id and fold their output by default.

A tool_call/tool_return arriving while a <think> block was open emitted its
own self-closing fence, whose </think> closed the outer block early. Every
reasoning token after that point rendered as prose, and the stray close left
the trailing assistant text mis-segmented. Append inside the open fence
instead; only open one when arriving in prose.

cb7dd73d2b sidebar: the garden's micro-view — Lens service, vault card in the right panel
The vault card lives where notifications were — header with sync pill
(clean/ahead/behind/dirty), today's note entry, five freshest notes,
cold start and push rows — over the notification list. Lens.qml owns
souveraine-lens the way Face owns the rig: one socket, event lines up,
no vault access of its own. Kiyoshi's slash grammar and tool registry
are noted for the fuller app; the micro view only opens and plants.

b2774c8aac sessiond: a power seam that cannot report an outcome it does not have
Power is the one irreversible transition and it bypassed the authority
entirely: both menus called Session.poweroff() straight into systemctl, so
there was no Action, no trail entry and no refusal path.

The daemon gains the verb and the shell gains a transport for it. The
request rides its own short-lived connection, never the heartbeat, because
suspend can hold the daemon's handler until resume while the heartbeat
must stay free to carry locked_ack and the EOF that means shell death. A
disconnect after the request was sent reports outcome_unknown rather than
guessing.

Session.qml keeps the legacy executor until this is exercised on hardware.
Unbuilt and unrun; CI is the first reader.

32c019875c usb: land the HID controller the doorway was already calling
78d6743 committed PowerMenu's half and never added the file, so the
singleton in qmldir resolved to nothing and the shell would not load on a
tree that had not been hand-linked.

HidController streams to usb-hid-inject and acknowledges every accepted
report, closes both endpoint fds on the busy edge before usb-signaller
tears the functions down, and refuses non-ASCII on the glass instead of
clearing a field whose first report was never written.

The face reports the agent and host results back to the page, and
deploy.sh stages the tracked face assets before the QML switch so a new
control cannot arrive without the page that implements it.

16c6ee1033 multitasking: one owner for the transition, and the release travels
ZoneTransition owns the card rect, the four overview verbs, the end-target
table and the gesture clock. ZoneOverview and the rail read it; neither
derives a geometry.

Deletes poseActiveZone/clearPose/_posed, zoneCard.scale and
zonePullProgress. The card's ColumnLayout went too — its margin was a second
opinion about where a window sits in its zone; panes are the compositor's
tiling scaled.

The swipe felt wrong because the release committed where the thumb left it.
settleTo() travels to the destination first and commits on arrival, with
quickstep's numbers (350ms cap, min(1/0.7, 1/0.3)). Abandoned half-swipes
settle to last_zone instead of snapping. Dwell gate restored — quickstep
gates the same way and "ever paused" is a latch.

Card box is measured from the surface, not assumed from the screen: the
overview panel respects exclusive zones and its height moves.

Strand repro passes on hardware.

452acea0ad restore every window the drag posed, not the ones the poll names
Going home from a pull left the app scaled down until the pill was
dragged back to clear it. clearPose walked ViewtopControl.windows, which
is the 2 s poll's list, so a window that list no longer named never got
its 1.0 back. Track the ids actually posed and clear those too.

47e8135cdc face: her postures reach the rig, and she stops miming on startup
`posture()` called window.live2dMotion, which does not exist — measured
undefined on the device. Nine states advertised to her in the prompt and
wired to nothing. The bundle exposes two levers: #live_talk, a motion slot it
reads every frame, and its own head/body hit test. The nine collapse onto
those rather than pretending: speaking talks, idle rests, and the rest are a
look — head for attention, body for effort.

#live_talk starts at "0". "1" means start a talk motion, so she came up
mouthing words with no voice behind them.

The gaze socket used onConnectedChanged; Quickshell's Socket emits
onConnectionStateChanged, so the subscribe was never sent — a handler for a
signal that does not exist.

075ddf19eb face: locking sends her away, and she stays away
Gated on screenLockSecure, the compositor's ack, not on screenLocked. The
request drifts: measured on the phone, `session lock` answered already-locked
while logind reported LockedHint=no and the phone was in use. That is a
shadow copy of state the protocol owns, and a face gated on it would have
been permanently dismissed with nothing on screen to explain why.

No return on unlock. You come back to the clock and summon her if you want
her, rather than finding whatever was left on.

c8dc24d3d1 face: follow the finger anywhere on the panel
Subscribes to viewtop's gaze feed and dispatches a synthetic pointer move on
the canvas, so live2d.js's own mousemove path drives head angle and eye
direction with its existing damping. Synthetic is the point: she is
deliberately not being given those contacts, and this lets her watch them
anyway.

Screen coordinates in, her window's coordinates out — the origin comes from
the compositor's furniture report rather than assumed, because the layout
decides it and it moves with the zone.

ac35b3436b her face on the glass: it draws, it listens, and it gets out of the way
The rig never drew. live2d.js is not only the Cubism runtime — it carries the
reference's character layer, which reads #live_talk every update as its
motion-state slot. Our page omitted the element, so it threw on the first
frame after the model and all four textures had loaded: assets 200, WebGL
live, no error reaching Rust, blank canvas.

--app-id was a no-op. set_prgname ran after GTK had already created the
surface, so the compositor saw souveraine-web and window rules could only
match the title. It has to run before the event loop.

Press and hold her to speak: pw-record at 16k mono s16, release transcribes
through souveraine-stt --file and goes out over Souveraine.send, so the
sidebar logs it. Whisper wraps with newlines and the transcript arrives
through a SplitParser, so it is collapsed here or one utterance becomes four
turns. Double tap dismisses; the clock and quote fade out when she is up and
the clock stops being a target, because a double tap on an invisible object
is not a way back.

The page reports its silhouette and the host installs it as the input region.
Claiming the GL context for preserveDrawingBuffer must happen after the
canvas is sized — before it, the context is born 300x150 and she renders as a
thumbnail in the corner.

Console and errors are forwarded to the host's stdout. Without that a rig
that fails to draw is silent in every direction, which is what cost this
the afternoon.
